A short article quotes Dr. Clifford Allen, a British surgeon, as saying sexual reassignment surgery is ineffective both physically and mentally.

Model, nightclub performer, and socialite April Ashley – a transsexual woman – is reported to have wed Arthur Corbett, the son of Lord Rowallan, in Gibraltar. Ashley would later write in her autobiography that the marriage was a sham, and she had numerous affairs almost from day 1.
